| "What is common
link betwen the world of Electrical engineering and digital art? Is it the
educated skill to handle machines, or the overflow of professional
activities?
Perhaps both and much more. Since aesthetic curiosity became an urge for Biswajit Nayak at a much earlier stage when he was a mere boy at school. He used to implore Shyamal Dutta Roy, the srtist-teacher, to guide him srt beyond the school hours. Later as llife scripted, he went to Jadavpur Universityand so on, to make his journey through the events of life. Though he continued his practise from time to time, but not until 1998, when he undeniably extracted few hours from the daily schedules to return to art more intimately., a need that long has been embeded in the mind. This time a computer and some software became his close associatesto explore the world of imageries/ So the steriotype of professional frontiers exploded. Besides the landscapes and other images, he discovered a metaphor om human form to explore the issues of daily life, and often the dichotomous nature of self identity. The show at the chemould art gallery, Kolkata, is glimpse onto his inner world." Amitava Sen Gupta |
